                                    November 14, 2007 Board Meeting Minutes

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Lake Iroquois Association was convened at the Clubhouse on November 14, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.  Present were:  Phil Iverson, President and presiding officer, Steve Garbaciak,  Carol Hildenbrand, Enid Miller, Sandra Ostrowski, Dan Pursley and Tracy Rodriquez.  Mark Webster and 3 guests were also present.
 
The Board opened the meeting with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Garbaciak, seconded by Pursley, to approve the October Board meeting minutes.  Motion carried.
    
CORRESPONDENCES
    -    Iverson advised that he received a call from Bob Martensen who had hoped to attend the Board Meeting, but was unable to.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

RECREATION ý Ostrowski
    -    Dredging ý Webster has scheduled excavation at the corner of Choctaw and Pueblo.
    -    On Oct. 23rd, 1000 walleye and 300 channel catfish were delivered to the main lake and 200 channel cat were delivered to the fishing pond.
    -    Bill Hancock submitted a fishing pond aeration proposal  for the Boardýs review.
    -    Pool will be checked for cracks in spring.
    -    Lake Shelbyville Corp of Engineers provided Ostrowski with information for using water or lights for buzzard deterrence.  Information was also gathered on a water scarecrow deterrent option.

A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Hildenbrand, to accept the Recreation Report.  Motion carried.

BUILDING & ROADS ý Miller

    PERMIT REQUESTS
        -    M. Ostrowski, 112 Dakota, Lots 6 & 7, permit and variance for a storage shed. Variance is to allow structure to be placed even with the front line of existing dwelling.  A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Garbaciak to grant the permit and variance.  Motion carried.

Hildenbrand made a motion, seconded by Pursley, to accept the Building and Roads report.  Motion carried.
    
WATER-WASTEWATER ý Garbaciak
-    Approx.  1,426,790, gallons of water were pumped in October.  
-    Water and wastewater plants are operating normally with routine maintenance.
-    No new information on the IEPA loan application.

Miller made a motion, seconded by Ostrowski to accept the Water-Wastewater report.  Motion carried.  

MEMBERSHIP - Rodriquez
    -    Ramon & Cheryl Martinez, 130 Mohawk (Lot 495B) ý house.
                                                         
Miller made a motion, seconded by Garbaciak to accept the Membership report.  Motion carried.  

SECURITY - Pursley
-    Security Officer Bill Willis worked 14 hours in October.    
-    Several complaints were received and addressed.
-    Pursley contacted Dr. Finnell, head of animal control in Iroquois County.  Dr. Finnell advised that LIA can publish a ýDangerous Dog Declarationý in the Arrowhead advising of the consequences and fees for unleashed dogs on Lake Iroquois property.  The Board will submit the information to the Rules and Regulations committee.
-    Mr. Willis suggested to the Board that a back-up security officer position be considered.

Garbaciak made a motion, seconded by Miller to accept the Security report.  Motion carried.  

 FINANCE - Report submitted by Hildenbrand
    -    October 2007 bills totaled $35,599.79.
        A motion was made by Hildenbrand, seconded by Garbaciak to approve October bills (payable in November) of 35,599.79. Motion carried.        
    
Ostrowski made a motion, seconded by Miler to accept the Finance report.  Motion carried.  

FACILITIES ENGINEER (Webster)
    -    Regular maintenance work is going as expected.
    -    Dredging work is ongoing.  
        
AD HOC COMMITTEES
    -     Rules and Regulations will be meeting within the next two weeks.
    -    No committee reports.

OLD BUSINESS
    -    Rodriquez brought up concern about the increase of coyotes on LIA property.  Pursley will contact the Iroquois County Animal Control regarding our options for control.

NEW BUSINESS
    -    Iverson brought up the possible need to move the burn pile to a more remote location in view of new construction in close proximity.  Webster will review the situation.

QUESTIONS FROM THE MEMBERSHIP
    -    A member complained about the new street at Pueblo and Pawnee being rough.
    -    A member asked that we publish in the Arrowhead that residents should remove the required retro-fit anti siphon valves in their outside faucets along with their hoses before the temperature drops to prevent pipes from bursting.
    -    A member asked about the construction progress of the house on the Township Road.  The Iroquois County permit expires in December.

A motion was made by Garbaciak, seconded by Ostrowski to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.  Motion carried.

The next monthly Board Meeting will be held on December 12, 2007.
